THE CANNON RIVER WATERSHED

The Cannon River Watershed is located in southeastern MN and includes the counties of Dakota, Goodhue, LeSueur, Rice, Steele, and Waseca. The watershed is defined as the area that drains into the Cannon River, which eventually drains into the Mississippi. It covers an area of about 1460 square miles and is a region where the borders of eastern forest and midwestern tallgrass prairie come together and overlap.
