Michelle Eng '04 named Braulick
Entrepreneurial Student Scholar for 2003-04
Michelle Eng '04 has shown outstanding achievement in entrepreneurship. Throughout 2003, Michelle has demonstrated the spirit of an entrepreneur as a risk taker, leader and change agent. She is the President of Ole Ventures, St Olaf's Student entrepreneurial Club. As the leader, she has redefined the mission of the club, its activities and organized a trip to visit with other student entrepreneurial club leaders in Chicago at the national Collegiate Entrepreneurial Organization (CEO) conference. Michelle also started her own business -- Cachitos Mexican Imports. The company markets a wide variety of Mexican arts and crafts -- from clothing to jewelry to ceramics. Its purpose is to promote awareness of Mexican goods and culture among the St. Olaf community and to support Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, an organization that cares for orphaned and abandoned children in Latin America and the Caribbean.
2000 Graduate is a Junior Officer
in the U.S. Foreign Service
Briana L.M. Saunders,
Washington D.C., was recently sworn in by Secretary of State Colin
Powell as a junior officer in the U.S. Foreign Service. She hopes
"to make a real impact, wake up every day to new challenges
and be involved in our nation's diplomacy during this critical
time in history." An economics and french major, Briana received
a master's in International Economic Policy from American University,
Washington D.C. She will serve her first tour of duty in Mumbai,
India.

Graduate Receives Teaching Assistantship
through French Embassy
The French
section received the news that Hilary
Savage,
Ole Class of 2003, from Hutchinson Kansas received a grant from
the French Embassy to serve as an Assistante at the Academie de
Nancy-Metz next year.
Erica Cray Accepts Management Position
Erica Cray, graduating major in French, recently accepted a management
position with TCF banks. In her words: "I will be working with
investments
and annuities, as well as overseeing others. The position has much
potential for growth and continued education."

4 majors named Phi Beta Kappa scholars
Four senior French majors have been selected for Phi
Beta Kappa, the
nation's premier academic fraternity. We warmly congratulate Michelle

Kelton and Kristin Williams!
2003 Seniors Graduate with Distinction
This May, two graduating senior French majors achieved distinction in the major, culminating in the oral defense of research they completed in their final year of study at St. Olaf.
