GERMAN HOUSE 2011-12

The German honor house offers an immersive language environment. Housemates enjoy speaking German with one another, increasing language skills and improving vocabulary.

German exchange students also live in the house, helping to support our program outside the classroom by conducting weekly conversaton groups at the 232 and 251 levels. Beyond they offer short presentations on German culture, show German films and serve as resources for current events in Germany. The German exchange students this year are Barbara Gerster and Kathleen Pilz.

Deutsches Haus activities over the last few years have ranged from decorating and eating tasty Christmas cookies to Easter egg hunts and Oktoberfest retreats. Housemates have the opportunity to decide which events they will organize, as well as elect a Deutsches Haus president to help organize these events. German language television is also available for viewing in the Deuetsches Haus, as well as German language films.
