Class Structure and Events
Each class (which consists of about 19 students and the instructor) studies the course materials through intensive discussion and questioning. The students and instructors are partners as they explore the themes and ideas in the course. All students are expected to participate in class discussions .
Both the instructor and students will be rotated after completion of a course. By the end of the five course sequence, students will have worked with each instructor and will have been in at least one class with most of the other students in the program.
In addition to class meetings, students in the program meet frequently for Wednesday night dinners for a film, or lecture, or further discussion. Other activities have included dramatic presentations of Medieval mystery plays, story-telling, and musical performances. Field trips are scheduled to the Guthrie Theater, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and a Benedictine monastery.
