It is interesting to obeserve how expressions such as "something" and "not...anything" interact with particles such as に、で、and へ.

どこかへいきましたか。　　　いいえ、どこへもいきませんでした。

Did you go anywhere?　　No, I didn't go anywhere.

だれかにあいましたか。　　いいえ、だれにもあいませんでした。

Did you see anybody? 　　No, I didn't see anybody.

なにかしましたか。　　いいえ、なにもしませんでした。

Did you do anything?　　No, I didn't do anything.
