Minifakta om Norge

Welcome to the home page for Norwegian 111 courses at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. These three sections have 75 of the 150 students taking Norwegian courses at St. Olaf this semester.

Norwegian 111 is a first semester Norwegian course and focuses on introductory Norwegian vocabulary, structures, and culture. The topics we will be studying are identity, education, eating habits, leisure, daily life, seasons, clothing, and holidays.

St. Olaf is one of a few colleges and universities where students can use Norwegian to complete their foreign language requirment -- and beyond the requirement can study the language, literature, culture, and history of Norway in depth. In addition, St. Olaf students have many opportunities to study and travel in Norway. We recommend the Oslo International Summer School, the Oslo Year Program, the Scandinavian Urban Studies Term, Scandinavian Studies in Telemark, and Denmark's International Study Program.
