Norwegian 112: Spring 2008

Welcome to the home page for Norwegian 112 at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. These four sections have 75 of the 145 students taking Norwegian courses at St. Olaf this semester.

Norwegian 112 is a second semester Norwegian course and focuses on introductory Norwegian vocabulary, structures, and culture. The topics we will be studying are family, housing, work, health, and travel. We are using the Sett i gang curriculum package, including a textbook, workbook, glossary, and web exercises on the NorWords site.

For students who are going on choir tour, you should download the pdf files for Ch. 16 and do all the exercises. Most of the audio files are online now, but there might be a couple from the workbook still missing.

Ch. 16: Textbook | Ch. 16 Workbook

St. Olaf is one of a few colleges and universities where students can use Norwegian to complete their foreign language requirment -- and beyond the requirement can study the language, literature, culture, and history of Norway in depth. In addition, St. Olaf students have many opportunities to study and travel in Norway. We recommend the Oslo International Summer School, Scandinavian Studies in Telemark, the HECUA programs, the direct enrollment programs at the Universities of Oslo, Tromsø and Stavanger, and Denmark's International Study Program.
