Norwegian Club Officers, 2004-2005

Hei, my name is Danaca Heidorn, and I am a first year student and one of the presidents of the Norskklubben here at St. Olaf College. I am from Rochester, Minnesota, and I am planning on a Norwegian and History major. I am extremely excited about anything and everything Norwegian ever since I began learning Norwegian at Skogfjorden (the Norwegian Language Villiage in Bemidji Minnesota) ten years ago. Norwegian has been my passion ever since. I greatly enjoy helping people learn Norwegian and convincing people to take Norwegian. I am on the swim team and the Valhalla Band, and I enjoy swimming, Nordic skiing, listening to music, dancing, and meeting new people.

My name is Emily Sonnesyn. I'm a first year and the secretary of the Norwegian Club. I'm in the 111 class. I became interested in Norwegian and Norway after going to Concordia Language Village's Skogfjorden for five years. I plan on being an Elementary Education major.

Hei hei! I’m Brooke Smars, and I am the Webmaster of Norskklubben. I am a junior Biology major and Nordic Studies concentration. Although I live in Rochester, Minnesota, most of my extended family lives in Sweden. I also lived there for a year as a toddler and then studied in Gränna, Sweden during my junior year of high school. Because Norwegian and Swedish are pretty similar, I decided to switch to Norwegian when I came to St. Olaf! I plan on studying at Oslo International Summer School this coming summer. I’m also a Norwegian tutor, junior counselor, mentor for the Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound, photographer for the Manitou Messenger and I enjoy playing intramural sports.

Hei! My name is Katie Darling, and I am a junior Biology major. I am the Norwegian club’s advertising director. I live in Billings, Montana and am currently taking Norwegian 231. I am very excited for next semester because I am studying at the University in Oslo! I am interested in Norwegian because some of my family originally came from Norway. I also sing in Cantorei choir, work and work-out at Tostrud and STORP, go to the library, and watch hockey and baseball games.
