General Information NorTANA is a non-profit educational organization for teachers of Norwegian and Norwegian studies at all levels. The organization seeks to support activities which enhance Norwegian studies in colleges and universities, high schools, language camps, and community education. These activities include the preparation and publication of textbooks and related teaching materials, the sharing of information through newsletters and the Internet, and the sponsoring of conferences and workshops. Below are some of the projects in which NorTANA has been involved during the past ten years: Using Literature in Teaching Workshop, SASS 2000 Multimedia Workshop: SASS 1998 NorTANA Web Site, June 1997 Technology Workshop, June 1997 Norwegian Teachers Newsletter (Biannual Publication, Editor Torild Homstad) NorWord: Norwegian Lessons via E-mail, 1995 Conference: "Teaching Culture" 1993 Student Writing Contest: "Why Major in Norwegian?" 1993 Conference: "Teaching for Proficiency in Norwegian Language Classes" 1991 Membership dues in NorTANA are $10.00 per year or $25.00 for three years.
