Areas of specialization include metaphysics, philosophy of mind, and history of modern philosophy - Hume. Professor Swain has taught at Loyola University, the University of Florida and the University of Oklahoma. She has been a participant in NEH Summer Institutes, and in seminars on Hume at Dartmouth College and on Meaning Holism at Rutgers University. In addition, Professor Swain has been a visiting scholar at Rutgers, UCLA, and USC. She has published in Philosophical Studies, Nous, and Hume Studies. Currently co-editor of Hume Studies with Saul Traiger, she was secretary-treasurer for the Hume Society from 2003-2008.
