Celebrating Accomplishments of the Molecular Beam Spectroscopy Group at St. Olaf College

A Retrospective on Jim Cederberg's Career

This week's seminar celebrates 42 years of Jim Cederberg's career at St. Olaf College.  Contributors will include Dr. David Nitz and Dr. Brian Borovsky who were a part of Jim's beam research during their undergraduate careers at St. Olaf.  Alums of the college in attendance who have been among the many who have been involved with Jim's research and in his classes over the years will also contribute.  For current students this will be an opportunity to learn about methods of exploring the energy level structure of molecules by probing the hyperfine interactions between the nuclei and the rest of the molecule.  These hyperfine interactions result in small splittings of the energy levels that provide important information about the molecular structure. Improvements in technology have played a remarkable role in the science that is today being done by the Beam Group and provide another thread in this story.  Please come and be a part of this important retrospective and celebration.
