"Novel Semiconductor Materials - Challenges for Characterization and Modeling"

P. Paul Ruden

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
University of Minnesota

Semiconductor technology is rapidly expanding into applications for which conventional semiconductor materials are not suitable.  The reasons vary widely, from purely physical (such as the required operating temperature) to essentially economic (for example processing cost).  Developing the experimental and theoretical understanding of the electronic properties of novel materials is critical to their successful use in technology.  This discussion will outline several examples of semiconductor projects in my research group.

I will also be glad to describe opportunities for physics-based graduate research in our Department and answer questions regarding degree programs and admission criteria.
