"Seeing the Light: Demonstrations for Optics
and Light"

Dr. Douglas Arion

Professor of Physics
Carthage College

One of the topics often studied in physics is optics —which has the unique
feature of discussing a ‘visible’ phenomenon that’s actually hard to visualize!

As part of the Center for Adaptive Optics, we have developed a series of hands-on optics demonstrations that allow easy visualization of optical effects, ranging from simple image formation to advanced aberrations and image control.

This talk will address a number of these demonstrations, and give attendees the chance to try out and play with systems that will illuminate (!) the field of optics.
