Applying for Distinction in Psychology
Distinction is an honor that a small number of majors each year receive for having performed exceptionally well in the major, as evidenced by submission of an outstanding portfolio highlighting his or her own development and performance as a student of psychology. The standards are high for distinction, so if you choose to submit a Distinction Portfolio for consideration, you will need to put time and energy into crafting and revising it. Many students who do not receive distinction go on to fine graduate schools and careers. For more information on how to apply for Distinction go to:

Transferring courses
If you are considering taking a course at another institution or on an abroad program and would like this course to count towards your Psychology major you will need the course approved by the Chair of the Psychology department. It is best that you have this approved before you complete the course. The steps to do this are:
1. Print and fill out the Transfer Credit Approval Form.
2. Attach the catalogue description or syllabus or a web address where such can be found.
3. Place this in the Chair of the Department’s PO Box. The chair will review your request and you should hear from Darla Frandrup (the administrative assistant) within a week about the decision.
4. Only courses that have been pre-approved by the Registrar's office will be considered.
