Amy Gohdes-Luhman
Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion

Amy Gohdes-Luhman received a Masters of Divinity at Moravian Seminary in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1993 and finished her graduate work at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she earned a Ph.D. in Hebrew and Rhetoric in December of 2004.

Since 1996 Amy has been the pastor of the Main Street Moravian Church and presently serves on the Western District Executive Board of the Moravian Church in America.

Amy's scholarly interests include the study of the character of Jezebel in First and Second Kings, on which she has presented papers at regional and national conferences of the Society of Biblical Literature.

In her courses Amy hopes to spark passion for and curiosity in the Biblical text for both those who hold the text as sacred and for those who hold it at arms length.  Combining academic interests and church life, Amy is developing work on the topic of the authority of the Bible and its divisive use in Christian churches, recently leading a conference on the subject for her denomination.

Amy and her husband Tom Luhman, a teacher at Cretin-Derham Hall High School, have three young children--two hockey players and an artist. They also have a menagerie of maimed rodents and two cats (no correlation). Amy enjoys driving vacations with her family, running 10K races, and exploring Nerstrand Woods with her kids.
