James Hanson,
Associate Professor

Jim received the Master of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in 1987, and completed his graduate work at Princeton Theological Seminary, where he earned a Ph.D. in New Testament in 1997. His areas of teaching and scholarly interest include the literary and theological interpretation of the Gospels, Jewish-Christian relations and dialogue, and religion and the arts.

When not pursuing these interests, Jim enjoys music and theatre, both as audience member and, on occasion, performer, taking to the skies in small planes, viewing the heavens through a telescope (with great awe, but not much knowledge!), and imitating the Muppets. He has a daughter, Rebecca.
