I am married to C.J. Beaurline (Augsburg '94) and we have three children: Savanna (6), Simeon (3), and Sophia (1). I have a Master's of Education degree from the University of Minnesota. I run my own violin school, design and sell mosaic artwork, and, most importantly, homeschool our children.
Interesting tidbit: I bumped into Bruce Nordstrom-Loeb in a Los Angeles museum gift shop about 5 years ago. (One of my favorite profs!)

I'm living in Minneapolis and working at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. During the past 10 years here, I've been a customer service rep, trainer for both Minnesota and nationally, and business analyst. For the past several years, I've managed our Claims Performance Team, which is a quality improvement team focused on making claims processing more accurate and efficient. Believe it or not, health insurance companies do try to keep costs down!

I am now teaching in the Department of Special Education at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. I have a daughter named Sydney who is four, and a son named Bergen who is 18 months old. My wife is working on her Ph.D. in speech pathology. I still try to keep up with news of St. Olaf and the sociology department. I have a niece who is considering attending St. Olaf in the near future. This would give me a wonderful reason to come visit.

After graduating in 1992, I spent a number of years trying figure out what I wanted to do with my life, so I ended up bar tending and managing restaurants around Minneapolis. Eventually, I figured out that was not the life for me, so I pursued a degree in special education to teach students with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD). After three years of teaching students with EBD around Minneapolis, I went to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where I received a Ph.D. in special education in 2003.
I am now an assistant professor of special education at Western Illinois University. My research has focused on community-based mental health initiatives for children with emotional disturbance and their families (wraparound), academic status of students with EBD, and mental health needs of youth in juvenile detention.
While at Nebraska I met my wife Amy, who is a speech language pathologist and a faculty associate in the communication division at WIU. We also have a beautiful daughter who is 19 months old and serves as the highlight of every day.
I still think fondly of my time up on the hill and the good company of the sociology department. Hope to find an excuse to come visit again soon.
