Joy Quaidoo
Class of 1997
Since 1997, I have become the mommy of a wonderful daughter (age 6) named Sjournee Abena-Ama Cornelius-Quaidoo. She is a striving politician and artist. She is an amazingly gifted and talented performer and student. She is my main priority and focus in life.
Besides that, I work as a Client Service Manager for the MENTTIUM Corporation in Minneapolis. I manage our largest market of about 500 clients. My main focus is relationship management/retention and client quality management/retention. This is a combined use of my studies from the Soc/Anthro area using things such as statistics, understanding people/cultures amongst a multitude of fortune ranked companies. I assist women in reaching their full potential in further development of their talents, with the ultimate goal of creating a more diverse and socially inclusive executive management team within the organizations. I spend a large majority of my time interfacing with an amazing wealth of top management executives that run our Minnesota companies and I coach them as they mentor middle management level women. I have also spent time serving on volunteer boards and committees within non-profit arts organizations for children & youth.
My past employment has extended across both the for-profit and non-profit sectors in the areas of education, business sales & marketing, consulting, fundraising, and administration. I have worked for Minneapolis Public Schools, Randstad North America, Coca-Cola North America, The Children's Theatre Company to name a few. I am beginning my Master's of Public Administration and Non-Profit Management this month.
My short-term goal is to gather as much experience in a multitude of areas to benefit my ultimate goal of working and balancing the fine line between corporations and non-profits. My ultimate goal is to run a corporate foundation within a fortune ranked company. Then my absolute goal is to finish the launch of a private business that will extend my skills and talents beyond the U.S. borders and branch out into the international scene to meet the need for non-governmental agency development, specifically within Africa (my family is from Ghana, West Africa). My passion is to empower communities to find and leverage the support of resources outside of their dominant governments. My dream is to further research and support in the areas of Education and HIV/AIDS prevention by increasing fundraising through the U.S.
In my spare time, I do a lot of singing, dancing, cooking, yoga, research on contemporary social issues, studying of Buddhist or Universal philosophies, spending time with my family & friends, lots of volunteer work, and international & national travel when time permits.
