Samiha Peterson
Samiha Sidhom Peterson completed her B.A. in sociology and her M.A. in anthropology at the American University in Cairo and received her Ph.D. in sociology/anthropology from the University of Minnesota.  Since 1989, she has served as a special policy advisor on education reform to the Egyptian Minister of Education.  In both her teaching and research, Samiha is interested in utilizing the sociological perspective to understand current issues in the Middle East, global interdependence, women and development, education and social change, and the development of international normative standards.  Finally, Samiha has also worked with the United Nations Council on Equality for Women, mainly on the issue of comparable worth.
