Get Involved! Find out how a show is produced!
Work with scenery, costumes, lighting, properties, sound or running crew.
If you get involved, enroll in Practicum 253 to receive .25 academic credit for your work.
If you don't choose the practicum, work-study might be available.
Running Crew - These positions work 1 1/2 weeks before a show opens until the production closes. If you're interested you must be available for all rehearsals and performances. All productions have some or all of the following positions:
Lighting Control System Operator
Follow Spot Operator
Sound Control Operator
Assistant Stage Manager
Fly System Operator
Wardrobe/Dresser
Scenery Shifter
Building the Show - These positions have specific work times, usually from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
Lighting and sound can have a varied schedule. Positions are:
Scenery
Properties
Costumes
Lighting
Sound
Publicity, house positions and box office positions are also available. These won't get you a practicum but may qualify for work-study.
