Student Theatre Groups

Deep End APO is the student led organization for extra-curricular theatre at St. Olaf. Formerly TAP/5 Guys, the student leaders made changes in 2008 to keep current the missions and projects important to student theatre and St. Olaf. The organization sponsors 3-5 student productions a year, advocates service by volunteering with Northfield organizations, and creates a positive link between St Olaf students and theatre faculty. Where TAP and 5 Guys were separate organizations, the 2008 board of directors, comprised entirely of students, decided to make the new organization an all encompassing whole, rather than separating two groups that were essentially the same. Opportunities are available for actors, directors, administrative help, designers, technicians, and patrons of theater. All are welcome. Meetings are currently held Mondays at 5pm in the Theatre Building Green Room. For an application to produce a Deep End APO production click here

Scared Scriptless is a student-run organization that focuses on improv comedy a la Whose Line Is It Anyway or Comedy Sportz. It's open to all who arrive, although who performs in the shows is usually determined based on frequency of practice attendance. Currently Scared Scriptless meets every Wednesday and Sunday nights in the Theater Building to work on various games and learn new skills. Often practice is followed by a casual visit to the Pause for fun and food. The organization has been around for about 10 years, with growing popularity. Shows, which take place in campus dorms, are often packed to the brim with excited fans, ready to contribute with improv suggestions.
