What is the nature of our universe and what is humankind’s place in it? Questions like these have been asked for thousands of years, but never has progress toward answering them been more exciting than in the past decade. The scientific discoveries of dark energy and dark matter call the very composition of our universe into question, while the detection of extra-solar planets and the former presence of water on Mars raise the possibility that we may not be alone in our universe. During this year’s Honors Day Science Symposium, three renowned experts in cosmology and the search for extraterrestrial life will explore progress toward understanding our place in the universe.
