Giving Priorities
Every gift given to St. Olaf is a testament to how much you value your time on the Hill.
As you consider your personal commitment, please keep in mind the following priorities of the College:
Greatest Opportunity
Giving to the college annually ensures that St. Olaf has the ongoing resources it needs to make the St. Olaf experience possible. Gifts to the St. Olaf Fund go to the operating budget and are always spent to fulfill the greatest immediate need. No matter the size of the gift, be assured that each dollar you give is going where it is required most at that time.
Financial Aid and Scholarships
Access to a quality liberal arts education is central to the College’s mission. However, the cost of higher education in America generally, including the cost of St. Olaf, represents a threat to the ability of students and their families, no matter how willing, to invest in the experience. Your gift to financial aid and scholarships will give bright and talented students the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Academic Programs
Invest in the programs and people that make St. Olaf what it is. Your gift to academic programs allows St. Olaf to focus attention on off-campus study, internships, mentored undergraduate research, and learning communities. A gift today will improve the programs and services that enable students to explore their vocations and experience rewarding post-graduation opportunities.
Endowment
Ensure that St. Olaf will be financially secure well into the future and know your money is well spent and well managed. The investment return this past year was 12.9 percent. For the seven-year period ending June 30, 2010, the endowment’s performance places the College in the top quartile among comparable institutions.
