How to Apply

Applications

TWo-STEP Process
Declaration of Intent  November 2, 2011
Full Application  February 27, 2012

Students should consult with their academic adviser and the program adviser before submitting a declaration of intent and must get their signatures on the form.
The declaration of intent should also be accompanied by a brief statement in which students indicate why they want to go on the program and how they intend to prepare for the experience.

Students who submit a declaration of intent in the fall will be given preferential consideration in the spring selection process. Students who do not follow through in the spring with an application for one of the programs they indicated in their declaration will forfeit their $100 application fee.

If students are not ready to declare a program choice with a declaration of intent in the fall, they can still submit a full application in the spring.  However, their applications will be considered after the applications of those who submitted a declaration of intent by November 2.

There are no exceptions to the deadline for submission of a declaration of intent.

The declaration of intent form can be obtained from the Office of International and Off-Campus Studies between October 11 and November 2. An example of its format is located here on page 7.

Program-specific application forms and detailed information will be available from the IOS office starting in November.

Follow with care the instructions when completing the declaration of intent and the application.

The completed forms should be returned to International and Off-Campus Studies by the stated deadlines.

Selection of Participants

Each program has a selection committee to review the completed application. In some cases, the applicant is interviewed by the selection committee.

Whenever possible, selection of participants is made within 30 days of the application deadline.

A complete list of the criteria for selection is available in the Office of International and Off-Campus Studies.

Applicants who apply through the department of education must receive approval from that department.
