To the parents of special students,

Lin and I will be returning to the States tomorrow morning.  I hate to
be leaving – especially since I feel just fine.  However, my prostate
kicked up, I was hospitalized for two nights and when the catheter came
out after seven days of meds the conclusion was that I needed to head
home to have surgery ASAP.

Lin and I are both very sad to be leaving, especially before the
‘contract' is over.  We know that the students will step up and help
Kris with the myriad of "leaving Thailand" logistics.  In addition to
their help, she will have the assistance of a graduate student in
Vietnam, who has traveled with groups, and our contact there will also
be with the group much of the time.

The individuals who signed up for the 2007-08 St. Olaf Term in Asia
are a delightful group to be learning and traveling with; we have
enjoyed each one as individuals and we have appreciated them as a group.
Sure, there have been occasional bumps, but they have weathered
unexpected turns in the road and will, I think you will find, return to
the States with broadened perspectives as they face their futures.

Thank you for loaning them to us for this experience; I will miss them
until they join Lin and me in the States.  Peace,

Bob Bruce
