"Ecuador's Rainbow"

The Native Market: Otavalo, Ecuador
Johanna Savage '05
Equatorial Biology Interim

Otavalo is an area internationally recognized for its native artisans. During our stay in Ecuador, we visited the home of a weaver and experienced the vibrant atmosphere of the market. When you first arrive at the market, you are overwhelmed by the colors that radiate from every stand. Walking through the market is like walking through a colorful maze, with every turn something new catches your eye. The market is a cultural gem: it is Ecuador's rainbow.
