"To Be Cleansed"

A hishaku (dipper) sits calmly in the water, waiting for the next person to come and cleanse themselves before entering the temple. First the hands are washed, then the mouth is cleansed by drinking a bit. Then the hishaku is cleansed by running water down the handle.
