Honorable Mention "European painting, second floor (removed for restoration)" An empty gallery in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, New York As an Art History major and simply an art enthusiast, even from a young age museums have captivated me. In so many ways, visiting a gallery and/or museum is like visiting old friends - somehow you always expect the art work to be there just for you. So it was quite startling and fascinating to come across this absence of art - this void - leaving me with a sense of longing and wonder as to where this painting had traveled to. |
