The picturesque glacial Lake Bled is home to Assumption of Mary's Pilgrimage Church, situated on the island, and Bled Castle, visible atop the cliff in the background. Tourists and locals take boats out to the islandto ring the church bell for good luck. The castle is one of the oldest in Slovenia. It was first mentioned in a document dating back to 1004.
