THE 25 th ANNUAL GIMSE INTERNATIONAL AND OFF-CAMPUS STUDIES PHOTO CONTEST
We are now accepting photos for the 25 th Annual Gimse International and Off-Campus Studies Photo Contest.
1) DUE DATE : All entries must be submitted by Monday, March 10, 2008 in Steensland Hall.
2) ENTRIES : You may submit up to five entries, each of which should be submitted in a separate envelope marked with your name and a xeroxed copy of the form below . Entries can be submitted as a photograph of any size or a slide. We cannot accept a CD . Slides and photos must be clearly marked with your name on the back (as the photos are judged anonymously). It is not necessary to submit a negative, but winners must be able to submit a negative to have the photo enlarged for the exhibit. For digital entries, if you are a winner, it is important to be able to provide the photo on a CD, as we must be able to make a quality reproduction.
3) SUBJECT : We will be looking for photos which are representative of your off-campus experience. Entries will be judged on the following criteria : (1) cross-cultural content, (2) artistic/technical quality and (3) reproducibility for photo exhibit (this includes reproducing digitial photoes). We are not necessarily looking for the exotic. **We would like to encourage those who have studied in Europe and Central/South America and the Domestic U.S. to submit photos.**
4) PARTICIPANTS : The contest is open to all students who have studied off-campus on St. Olaf International or Domestic programs during Semester II (2007), Yearlong (2006-2007), Semester I or Semester I/Interim (2007-2008) or Interim (2008).
5) RESPONSIBILITY/LIABILITY : International and Off-Campus Studies will be responsible for producing enlargements from the winning slides or negatives, mounting them and hanging them. The finished matted enlargements will become the property of International & Off-Campus Studies. All prints, negatives and slides that have been submitted will be returned. Every effort will be made to protect your photos/negatives/CD from loss or damage. However, in the event of loss or damage, our liability is limited to the cost of a replacement roll of film.
6) Each entrant gives St. Olaf College the right to reproduce negatives or prints from his/her entry and to display and use reproductions in college publications, college slide shows or in any other non-commercial manner.
