JOHN T. PETTERS SCHOLARSHIP (INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS ONLY)

Study Locations: All in which student would study International Business
Fields of study: MUST be pursuing a focus on International Business
Eligibility: Must be U.S. citizen
Awards based on: Supporting a diverse range of students who have traditionally been underrepresented in study abroad to defray the recipient's tuition, travel fees, and room & board fees
Award amount: 4 at approximately $5,000 each
Procedure: Complete online application, which includes Financial Aid Adviser Section (consult Brian Murphy), Personal Statement, Official Transcript and two letters of Recommendation

CROSSING BORDERS: MINNESOTA JOURNALISTS ABROAD

Study Locations: All; either formal coursework or independent study projects
Eligibility: MUST plan to work in the field of journalism after graduation
Awards based on: Proposals for a project are judged on creativity, feasibility and journalistic ingenuity. Complete essay questions.
Award amount: $3,500
Procedure: Resume describing academic and extracurricular activities, etc; two letters of recommendation (one academic and one outside of academia); transcript; budget; letter of verification from St. Olaf
Application deadline: May 15 in 2007; check website for 2008 date

VINCENT L. HAWKINSON FOUNDATION FOR PEACE/JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Must be a resident or student in MN, IA, WI, ND or SD
Awards based on: Awarded to students who have demonstrated a commitment to peace and justice through study, internships or projects that illustrate their commitment
Award amount: $1,000-1,500
Procedure: Obtain application and submit a personal essay, names of three references, nomination form for one reference and transcript. Must be available for in person interview.
