COLLEGE ARCHIVES

The College Archives, located on level 1 in Rolvaag Library, is a "repository of historical materials relating to the founding and growth of the college." It contains "correspondence, minutes, reports, publications, photographs, audio tapes, video tapes, artifacts and related materials" donated mostly by the college constituents.

To locate archival materials, search The Collections, Manitou Messenger, and Alumni Magazine , an online database indexing books, catalogs, manuscripts, negatives, photos, yearbooks and more, including abstracts of each issue of the Manitou Messenger, the student newspaper of St. Olaf College, and full-text articles from the Alumni Magazine.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

Any item not owned by St. Olaf may be ordered through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) provided you allow enough time. Use electronic delivery (MEDD) for articles to shorten delivery time.

RESOURCES ON THE INTERNET

Go to Scholarly Websites from the library home page or search on your own. Useful site to try is American Memory, maintained by the Library of Congress, with vast resources of digitized American historical materials. See especially Today in History, one of collections included in American Memory.

If you choose to search on your own, remember to evaluate each site critically for authority, accuracy, objectivity, currency, and coverage. Evaluating Internet Research Sources is a good succinct guide to evaluating websites.
