Search the rich collections of St. Olaf and Carleton with BRIDGE. Search either by official Library of Congress Subject Headings or by Keyword. Once you find a relevant source, make sure you follow the subject heading links. If you'd like to search outside of Northfield, use WorldCat. If you use the advanced search page you'll be able to limit by language, format and date.

Images
ARTstor -
A "repository of hundreds of thousands of digital images and related data." Covers architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, and design from many cultures.
Note: You can also find images on the Internet, however you should cross-check the descriptive data (meta-data) associated with these images. ARTstor is much more reliable and the images are of a higher quality.
Web Sites
There are many ways now to access the web. You have all done Google searches by now but the results are often overwhelming or unsatisfying. There's a better way to start -- by following time honored routes applied to new technologies:
Librarians' catalogs of web sites:
Scout Report: Reviews of web sites; searchable by keyword and Library of Congress Subject Headings
Infomine: Web sites"collected" by academic librarians -- full descriptions and subject headings
Librarians' Index to the Internet: Aimed more at public library patrons but still useful for many topics
Google and Google Scholar
GoogleScholar [scholar.google.com] is supposed to take you to scholarly or governmental sites. It works quite well by and large. However, if you end up at pay-for-use journal articles know that we usually have access to the SAME articles through our databases above, that we've already paid for.
Google [www.google.com] takes you to any and all web sites which match your criteria. The advanced search lets you tailor your search a bit but you're likely to end up with many matches.
Citation
EndNote Web® is software on the web that you can use to gather your citations and then generate a bibliography. Each of you has been already set up with a log in that you can use to access your account. Aside from the basic instructions handed out in your library session, there are guides on the EndNote Web site as well.
