In Safari:

  • In database, tag desired selections.
  • Click export options on the top right portion of the screen.
  • Choose entry format (for short or full) and request entry for tagged selections.
  • Select EndNote under output type.
  • Click export records, then Export to Citation Manager.
  • If you are working on a networked computer, select save to disk.  Leave file format as .ris
  • Save to your location of choice..

In Endnote:

  • Click on the import icon
  • Select file chosen above.
  • Select other filters under import options.  Choose appropriate filter.  See below for filter selection. 
  • Click import.

In Netscape: Same as Safari

In Camino: Same as Safari

In Firefox: Not compatible at this time; please use a different browser

Annual Reviews updated 9 May 2007

  • Conduct your search.
  • Click on the title of an article that interests you.
  • Under “Quick Links” on the right side of the page is the option “Download to Citation Manager.” Click that link.
  • In the “Include” field make sure that the “Citation for this article” is checked.
  • In the “Citation manager or file format” field, make sure that the EndNote radio button is checked.
  • Make sure that the “Enable quick import into citation manager” box is checked.
  • Now click the icon that says “Download chapter metadata.”
  • The file will have an extension of .enw
  • Have your EndNote Library open.
  • Click the Import icon.
  • Now click the file.
  • Where it says Import options change it to EndNote Import.
  • Now click Import.

For all browsers:

  • Mark your records by checking in the little boxes.
  • Click the link that says Send to Citation Mgr.
  • Where it says Format make sure the EndNote radio button is checked.
  • Make sure the Direct import box is checked.
  • Now click the Download article citation data button.
  • The file will download and have an extension of .enw
  • Have your EndNote Library open.
  • Click the Import icon.
  • Now click the file.
  • Where it says Import options change it to EndNote Import.
  • Now click Import.

ArtStor updated 11 May 2007

  • In ArtStor, double click on thumbnail of image. Save to desktop using diskette icon.
  • Open EndNote and select new reference.
  • Choose "artwork" as a reference type.
  • You will need to fill in all the information.
  • Scroll down to "image" field. Click in image field.
  • In references drop down menu, choose "Insert picture"
  • After image is inserted, give it a name in the "Caption field." This will be how it is labelled when you import it to a word document.
  • In Word, use "Find Figures" button [toward the right side on EN toolbar; icon says "fig." with down arrow] to import.

Bibliography of Asian Studies 27 Feb 2008

In Safari:

  • In BAS, click on "Add to bookbag" for the citations you wish to import
  • At top of page, click on "Bookbag" to access saved items
  • Click on "download contents " and save to desktop or stuhome or fshome

In EndNote:

  • Click on the import icon in Endnote.
  • Select file chosen above.
  • Choose other filters under import options.  Select Bibliography of Asian Studies-CC.   
  • Click import.

  • Choose Mac file format and click "save."
  • Select Save As (under File options) and select the download destination of your choice.
  • Click "Save."

In Endnote:

  • Click on the import icon in Endnote.
  • Select file chosen above.
  • Choose other filters under import options.  Select appropriate filter.  See below for filter selection. 
  • Click import.

In Netscape:

  • In database, tag desired selections
  • Click Save/Print/Email Records above listed records.
  • Choose Mac file format and click "save."
  • Select Save this file to disk in the downloading options box and click "ok."
  • Make sure the file format is set to *.txt and the extension is .txt.
  • Save.

Note: Ebsco has tagged its records inconsistently. This makes them very difficult to import. If there are empty or incomplete fields after the import (particularly the year), check in the notes field. The information may be there and can be moved up with a cut and paste. Otherwise, you should look in the the downloaded file for the missing data.

In Camino:

  • Select desired references by clicking on the folder icon to the right of each reference.
  • Click on folder has items icon above reference list on the right side of the screen.
  • Click the export icon .
  • Click on generic bibliographic management softwareDirect export to EndNote DOES NOT work
  • Click "save."
  • Under "file," select save page as.
  • *** Name the file and confirm format is plain text.  
  • Save

In EndNote:

  • Click on the import icon in Endnote.
  • Select file.
  • Choose other filters under import options.  Select the AcademicPremierEBSCO filter.
  • Click import.

In Netscape:

  • Select desired references by clicking on the folder icon to the right of each reference.
  • Click on folder has items icon above reference list on the right side of the screen.
  • Choose save
  • Choose brief or detailed citation and abstract (any of the top three options).  HTML full text and links WILL NOT come over. [For full text the best strategy is to download the pdf files to your computer and put your own link in the EN workform to them.]
  • Click save
  • Go to File dropdown menu -- Save Page As
  • Set format to Text Files

In Endnote:

  • Click on the import icon in Endnote.
  • Select file.
  • Choose other filters under import options.  Select the AcademicPremierEBSCO filter.
  • Click import.

In Firefox: Not compatible at this time; please use a different browser

  • Go to GoogleScholar. Click on the Schlolar Preferences link to the right of the Scholar search box.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the Scholar Preferences Page, and in the "Bibliographic Manager" section, click the radio button next to "Show link to import citations into"
  • Choose EndNote
  • Click the Save Preferences button
  • When you do a search you will note the "Import into EndNote" link under the entry. Click
  • Choose "Open with EndNote..."
  • Select (or reselect) your library
  • Reference will import on its own

JSTOR updated 14 April 2008

In Firefox, Safari, Netscape OR Camino:

  • Log in to your JSTOR account (mandatory to download citations) Conduct your search. Then Mark the records you want. Now click "Save Citations" .
  • At the very upper right of the screen beneath your name you will see the number of Saved Citations you have. Click that link.
  • You must now select the records you want once again!!
  • Click "Export article citations".
  • Where it now says "Select one Option" click the hyperlink that says EndNote.
  • The file will be saved to the Desktop OR Downloads folder and called "citations.enw"

In Endnote:

  • Click on the import icon in Endnote OR drag down from the File menu in Endnote to Import....
  • Select file chosen above (citations.enw).
  • Choose other filters under import options.  Select the JSTOR-CC filter.
  • Click Import.

  • Click export at top of page
  • Choose "marked records from this search" under export
  • Export.
  • The file will save as "Direct Export."
  • Locate file and open. This will open TextEdit.
  • Select Save As (under File options.) Save as .txt file.

In Endnote:

  • Click on the import icon in Endnote.
  • Select file.
  • Choose other filters under import options.  Select appropriate filter.  See below for filter selection. 
  • Click import.

In Camino: Same as Safari

In Netscape:

  • Tag desired references

  • Export.
  • In the download options box select "save file to disk."
  • Change the file format to All Files and add the extension .txt.
  • Save to location of your choice.

  • Under "Action," click save (on the right side of the screen.)

In Endnote:

  • Locate the file and double click on the icon to open.
  • Endnote will start if not already running. You will need to open the library of your choice. (You will need to reopen the library if it is already open.)
  • Select appropriate filter.  See filter options below.
  • The references will automatically appear.

In Camino: same as Safari

In Netscape:

  • A window will appear stating that records have been saved. Click "Close Window."
  • Select Email/Export Saved Results from the Menu.
  • Under "Export Marked Results To", select Endnote.
  • Export.
  • The file will save with the extension .cgi.

In Endnote:

  • Click import
  • Select file chosen above.
  • Choose other filters under import options.  Choose Project Muse filter.
  • Click Import.

In Netscape:

  • Same as above.

  • If your EN library is not yet open, do so with the box that pops up. If it is already open, you can click cancel.
  • When the filter box opens, highlight Web of Science and click choose.
  • Wait for several seconds and the references will appear.
