Annual Reviews
updated 2 July 2010- Conduct your search.
- Click on the title of an article that interests you.
- Under “Quick Links” on the right side of the page is the option “Download to Citation Manager.” Click that link.
- In the “Include” field make sure that the “Citation and abstract for this article” is checked.
- In the “Citation manager or file format” field, make sure that the EndNote radio button is selected.
- Make sure that the “Enable quick import into citation manager” box is selected.
- Now click the icon that says “Download chapter metadata.”
- The file will have an extension of .enw
- Have your EndNote Library open.
- Click the Import icon.
- Now click the file.
- Where it says Import options change it to EndNote Import.
- Now click Import.

In Firefox:
- In database, select desired article. Only single articles can be imported into EndNote at a time.
- Below the author, click HTML Version and More Information. Your article will open in a new window.
- Click Download Citation
- Select Plain Text as the Format, Citation as the Export Type, and Macintosh as the file type.
- Click Go.
- Select Save File.
- Click OK and your file will be saved to your Downloads folder.
In Endnote:
- Click on the Import icon in Endnote.
- From your Downloads folder, select the file chosen above.
- Choose other filters under import options. Select the Anthrosource-CC filter.
- Click Import .
Art Index Retrospective

In Firefox:
- Select item.
- Click Export . (at this time, you may also select multiple items)
- Under "Download Record(s) into", click on "For exporting to Bibliographic Software." Direct export to EndNote DOES NOT work
- Click Export and allow a pop-up window to appear.
- Under File , select Save Page As .
- *** When naming the file, add the extension .txt and confirm format is ASCII text.
- Click Save .
In EndNote:
- Click on the Import icon in Endnote.
- Select saved file.
- Choose other filters under import options. Select the Art Index Retro-CC filter.
- Click Import .
ArtStor
verified 7 June 2010- In ArtStor, double click on thumbnail of image. Save to desktop using diskette icon.
- Open EndNote and select new reference.
- Choose "artwork" as a reference type.
- You will need to fill in all the information.
- Go to the References drop down menu, figures, attach figure.
- Select figure from desktop.
- After figure is inserted, give it a name in the "Caption field." This will be how it is labelled when you import it to a word document.
- In Word, use "Find Figures" button [toward the right side on EN toolbar; icon says "fig." with down arrow] to import.
Bibliography of Asian Studies

- In BAS, click on "Add to bookbag" for the citations you wish to import
- At top of page, click on "Bookbag" to access saved items
- Click on "download contents " and save to desktop or stuhome or fshome
In EndNote:
- Click on the Import icon in Endnote.

- Choose other filters under import options. Select Bibliography of Asian Studies-CC.

In Firefox:
- In database, tag desired selections.
- Click on the Marked Items folder.
- Click Export citations .
- Select Download in a format compatible with ProCite, Endnote, Reference Manager and Refworks . The Direct Export option does not work.
- Under File , click Save Page As .
- *** When naming the file, add the extension .txt and confirm format is ASCII Text.
- Click Save .
In Endnote:
- Click on the Import icon in Endnote.
- Select file chosen above.
- Choose Other Filters… under import options. Select the Dissertations&Theses-CC filter.
- Click Import.
EBSCO

Note: Ebsco has tagged its records inconsistently. This makes them very difficult to import. If there are empty or incomplete fields after the import (particularly the year), check in the notes field. The information may be there and can be moved up with a cut and paste. Otherwise, you should look in the the downloaded file for the missing data.
In Firefox:
- Select desired references by clicking on the "add to folder" icon below each reference.
- The far right column on the page has a yellow bar with the text "folder has items." Below it, click on the folder view link.
- Select all the references you wish to export.
- Click the export icon (on the right, above your reference list) .
- Click on generic bibliographic management software . Direct export to EndNote DOES NOT work.
- Click "save ."
- Under "file," select save page as .
- *** Give the file a new name , and change the file extension to .txt. Under the save as type option, select text files . * ** You must do both.
- Note: HTML full text WILL NOT come over. [For full text the best strategy is to download the pdf files to your computer and put your own link in the EN workform to them.]
In EndNote:
- Click on the Import icon in Endnote.
- Select file.
- Choose other filters under import options. Select the AcademicPremierEBSCO filter.
- Click import.

- Go to GoogleScholar. Click on the Schlolar Preferences link to the right of the Scholar search box.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Scholar Preferences Page, and in the "Bibliography Manager" section, click the radio button next to "Show link to import citations into"
- Choose EndNote
- Click the Save Preferences button
- When you do a search you will note the "Import into EndNote" link under the entry. Click
- Choose "Open with EndNote..."
- Select (or reselect) your library
- Reference will import on its own
International Index to Music Periodicals (IIMP)

- Select articles.
- Click Marked List .
- Click the Download icon.

- Click on the Import icon in Endnote.
- From your Downloads folder, select the file chosen above.
- Click Other Filters… under import options. Select the IIMP-CC filter.
- Click Import .
JSTOR

In Firefox:
- Log in to your JSTOR account (mandatory to download citations) Conduct your search. Then Mark the records you want. Now click "Save Citations" .
- At the very upper right of the screen beneath your name you will see the number of Saved Citations you have. Click that link.
- You must now select the records you want once again!!
- Click "Export citations".
- Where it now says "Select one Option" click the hyperlink that says "EndNote, ProCite, Reference Manager (download RIS file)".
- The file will be saved to the Desktop OR Downloads folder and called "citations.ris"
In Endnote:
- Click on the Import icon in Endnote OR drag down from the File menu in Endnote to Import....
- Select file chosen above (citations.ris).
- Choose other filters under import options. Select the JSTOR-CC filter.
- Click Import.
OCLC

- It will default to the EndNote radio button
- Click Export.
- The file will save on the desktop or in the Documents folder as "Direct Export."
In Endnote:

- Choose other filters under import options. Choose Project Muse filter.
- Click Import.

Note: PROQUEST DATABASES EXPORT DIRECTLY TO ENDNOTE. This includes American Periodical Series Online, Ethnic Newswatch, GenderWatch, LION, International Index to Music Periodicals, Proquest Newstand Complete, and the following historical newspapers: Atlanta Constitution, Chicago Defender, Los Angles Times, Minneapolis Tribune, New York Amsterdam News, and New York Times.
In Firefox:
- In database, tag desired references
- Click on Export
- Select Export directly to ProCite, Endnote or Reference Manager.
In Endnote:
- Locate the saved file.
- Before opening, add the extension .cgi to the file name.
- Double click on the icon to open.
- Endnote will start if not already running. You will need to open the library of your choice. (You will need to reopen the library if it is already open.)
- Click open.
