Hometown and Education: I'm a native of Poland, where I received my M.A. in English Linguistics with specialization in American Literature. I came to Northfield in 1994 with my husband, who is an Ole grad and a townie. I earned my MLIS from Dominican University in Chicago.

Then and now: In my pre-library life, I taught linguistics (phonetics and phonology), First Year Writing, and ESL at a college and university in my home country. I enjoyed the constant interaction with my students then as much as I enjoy working with St. Olaf students and faculty now as a reference and instruction librarian. It's been a great source of satisfaction and it keeps me curious and on my toes.

Hobbies: My professional interests revolve around teaching research skills, particularly to First Year students, efficacy of in-classroom research instruction, and leadership in higher education. For my leisure hobbies, reading is an undefeated number one, followed by traveling, running, biking, canoeing, and cooking.
