How to use the libraries when you're sick and tired of studying:

  • Watch a football game or track meet from the top floor of Rølvaag.
  • Find the purple dinosaur.
  • Get a cup of coffee in the World Languages Center.
  • View the art exhibits by the circulation desk.
  • Read one of our 1,600 magazines or journals.
  • Play miniature golf the third Saturday night of January.
  • Stand in the middle of the reference room and memorize the St. Olaf presidents.
  • Find the hidden stairwell that leads to “floor 3 ½.”
  • Ask a reference librarian why men have nipples.
  • Go to the music library: listen to alternate tracks of Radiohead's Kid A , John Cage's 4'33”, and Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze , and then try to remember your name.
  • Deposit a question in Jean Jacques' question box, and wait for advice from the library's resident philosopher.
  • Introduce yourself to a stuffed animal in the science library.
  • Watch one of our 11,185 video recordings.
  • Take a nap in the love pit.
