New DVDs & Online Databases!

With the proceeds of our January miniature golf tournament, the Libraries purchased many new DVDs based on your suggestions. See a complete list here.

We've also subscribed to several new databases to help you with your research papers and projects:

Biography and Genealogy Master Index

This database is a first-stop index tool for learning where to look for biographical material on people from all time periods, geographical locations and fields of endeavor. Many of the sources cited in the database are available in the Rolvaag reference collection.

CQ Researcher

The libraries have used the print version of the CQ Researcher heavily for many years. Now this valuable resource is accessible and searchable online! CQ Researcher 's weekly reports serve as excellent introductory overviews to complex topics, and the bibliography included with each report is invaluable to students seeking more in-depth information.

Micromedex HealthCare Series

The Micromedex Health Care Series provides a wide range of clinical information about drugs, herbal supplements, toxicology, diseases, acute care, and alternative medicine. Nursing faculty and students will find the accompanying CareNotes™ database particularly useful for information on medical conditions, care, and medications.

Note: This database is accessible on-campus only and users must login with the Username “stolc” and Password “library05”.

The New York Times Online

The Libraries now subscribe to the full-text of The New York Times online! The days of spooling through reels of microfilm are over. You can search this database by a range of keywords: personal name, author name, historical event, or you can browse the New York Times by date. The database goes back to 1851, the first year of publication, through to 2003.

Women's Studies International

This database indexes books and scholarly articles relating to the field of Women's Studies from the early 1970s to the most up-to-date scholarship in feminist research. This databases indexes over 2,000 periodicals to include over 548,000 bibliographic citations, some of which are available in full-text.
