Japan Foundation Gift Books

Thanks to a generous gift from the Japan Foundation, sixty-two new volumes about Japan grace the St. Olaf library shelves. Ranging in scope from linguistics to literature, from suburbia and migrant workers to traditional Japanese theater, and from anime to the JET program, these books will enhance the study and teaching of Japan at St. Olaf College. The value of the donated items is $1,627.

The Japan Foundation is a philanthropic branch of the Japanese government and works to enhance understanding of Japanese society and culture world-wide. They focus on three areas: Arts and cultural exchange, Japanese language education outside of Japan, and Japanese Studies and intellectual exchange. The Japanese Film Festival held in February was made possible by the Foundation's New York Office.
