Ole Football close gap, but fall to Tommies

St. Olaf closed to within six points of St. Thomas with 9:18 remaining in the 3rd quarter on a 19-yard scoring strike from Brian Senske (Jr, Apple Valley, Minn.) to Cory Paterson (Jr. Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) and Tim Baer's (Galesville, Wis./Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau) two point conversion run. Those scores made it a 14-8 game but St. Thomas answered with an 80 yard, nine play drive capped by a Justin Kostner one yard TD run to extend the lead to 21-8.

Matt Lafferty returned an interception 89 yards for a touchdown in the middle of the 4th quarter to end the scoring in the 35-15 Ole defeat.

The Tommies were led by Senior quarterback Nick Ambrasas who passed for 387 yards with two touchdowns and running back Justin Kostner who had three scores and 97 yards rushing for St.Thomas.

The win puts St. Thomas to 3-0 in the MIAC and 3-2 overall. The Oles fell to 2-2 in the MIAC and 3-2 overall.

Next week, St. Olaf travels to Arden Hills for a 1 p.m.battle at Coach Meidt's alma mater, Bethel College. Bethel is coming off a 40-0 loss to UW-Eau Claire. The game can be heard on 920 AM, KDHL
