Volleyball team falls to #1 Washington, beats Simpson

The St. Olaf volleyball team defeated Simpson in five games to finish 2-2 in the Storm's 14th Annual Invitational.

The Oles downed the hosts 30-22, 20-30, 22-30, 30-28 and 15-10.

Shannah Olson (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) led the Oles with 14 kills. Brie Mattson (Sr., Anoka, Minn) had 42 assists in the win.

Emily Ganzkow-Wold (Sr., Madison, Wis./West), who amassed 55 kills in the Oles four matches, was St. Olaf's only representative on the All-Tournament Team.

St. Olaf dropped the first game of the day 30-26, 22-30, 30-20 and 30-26 to the Nation's top-ranked Washington University (Mo.). Emily Ganzkow-Wold had 14 kills, while Shannah Olson and Andrea Drapcho (Jr., Waconia, Minn.) added 11 and 10 in the loss.

Washington, who is yet to lose this season (21-0) won the Invitational, defeating Whitewater in the final 30-21, 20-30, 28-30, 30-22 and 16-14.
