The St. Olaf Women's Soccer team earned their first point in a game against Macalester since 1988, playing to a 0-0 tie Friday night in St. Paul.

The Oles (7-2-3, 3-1-2) had lost 13 straight to Macalester (6-1-5, 4-0-3). The last St. Olaf win in the series was a 3-1 decision on Sept. 24, 1988.

Kara Olson (FY, Oconomowoc, Wis.) earned the shutout for St. Olaf stopping eight Macalester shots, including three in the two overtime sessions. The Scot's Lisa Bauer had five saves.

Macalester outshot St. Olaf 16-6 and had eight corners to the Ole's four.

Entering play Saturday, the Oles are in fourth place in the MIAC with eight points. League leading St. Ben's, Macalester and St. Thomas are tied with 11 points.

St. Olaf will travel to Winona Tuesday to play Saint Mary's University.
