The St. Olaf women's volleyball team defeated Macalester 30-26, 30-25 and 30-25 Wednesday night to clinch an MIAC postseason playoff berth.

First-year Danica Finseth (Chatfield, Minn./Chosen Valley) led the Oles (14-7, 7-2) with 11 kills. Andrea Drapcho (Jr., Waconia, Minn.) added ten kills and four service aces in the win over the Scots (8-14, 3-6).

Sarah Graves led Macalester, hitting .429 with ten kills.

With the win, St. Olaf clinched a place in the six-team MIAC tournament, which begins Nov. 5. The Oles are tied with Bethel (7-2) and Saint Benedict (7-2) and can claim the third seed, at least, with victories in their final two MIAC games (Augsburg and Carleton) and a Bethel loss.

St. Thomas leads the MIAC at 8-1. The Tommies, who fell victim to two injuries this week, lost their first conference game to Saint Mary's Wednesday night. St. Thomas will meet Saint Benedict (7-2), fresh off of a five-game defeat to Bethel Wednesday, next week in St. Joesph.

St. Olaf will travel to St. Louis, Mo. to play in the Washington University Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The Oles return home to host Augsburg in the last home game of the season next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
