Ole men finish eighth at Pre-Nationals

Despite their home course being in less than favorable condition, the St. Olaf Men's Cross Country team raced to an eighth-place finish in the Pre-National meet.

The Oles ran through the mud and water with fifteen other Division III teams, of which nine are ranked in the top 25 in the nation.

Leading the way for the Oles was Kelly Fulton (So, Billings, MT) in 22nd place with a time of 26.56. He was followed closely behind by Rob Hillard (Sr, Colombia, MO - Hickman), Malcolm Richards (So, Minneapolis, MN - South) and Peder Arneson (Jr, Montevideo, MN) who packed up and finished in 38th, 41st and 45th respectively. Christopher Coffey (Sr, Dubuque, IA - Senior) came in strong as the Oles fifth man, in 58th place, and a fair amount of promise was seen by Jason Havey (FY, Colombia, MO - Hickman) as he was the Oles eighth runner and top first year finisher.

The Oles are looking forward to racing next on Saturday Oct. 19th at the Jim Drews Invitational hosted by UW-LaCrosse. Once again, the Ole men will square off against another very large and impressive field from across the nation and all three NCAA divisions. The men's race is scheduled for 10:30 at the Maple Grove Country Club in West Salem, WI.
