The St. Olaf football downed Macalester 34-6 in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon in St. Paul behind a punishing ground game that produced a season-high 280 yards rushing.

Jason Moore (FY, Brooklyn Center, Minn.) gained a career-high 230 yards on 30 carries to lead the Ole offense. Moore scored on 63 and five yard runs.

Kipp Pennau (Jr., Fond Du Lac, Wis.) had six tackles for a loss, including four sacks, to lead the St. Olaf defense. The Oles pushed Macalester backwards for -22 yards rushing on the afternoon. Today marked the third time this season St. Olaf's defense has held an opponent to negative net rushing yards. The Oles had a season-high eight sacks and four interceptions in the victory.

St. Olaf led just 7-6 at the half after the Oles committed three turnovers in the redzone. The Scots returned the last fumble for a touchdown. The 20-yard return, which came with 1:10 to play in the second quarter, proved to be the only Macalester score.

Junior QB Brian Senske (Jr., Apple Valley) was 20-of-33 for 239 yards and three touchdowns. In the last three outings, Senske has thrown seven scores and just one interception.

Frank Bass (So., Minneapolis, Minn./Roosevelt) had his third straight 100 yard receiving effort, catching nine passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Bass also had a 75 yards scoring strike called back by a penalty.

Neal Olson (Sr., Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) caught Senske's final scoring toss, from 34 yards, near the end of the third quarter.

St. Olaf generated 519 yards of total offense compared to 209 yards for the Scots. With the win, the Oles improve to 5-3 overall. They will host Concordia-Moorhead College at 1 p.m. next Saturday. The Cobbers (5-1, 5-3) lost their first MIAC game on Saturday to Saint John's by a score of 34-9.
