Men's hoops beats Bethel, now tied for final playoff spot

The St. Olaf men's basketball team moved into a three-way tie for the sixth and final playoff spot, beating Bethel College 70-57 Saturday afternoon.

Mike Ludwig (Sr., Blaine, Minn.) had 25 points and nine rebounds to pace St. Olaf (11-10, 7-9). Tim Nelson (Sr., Braham, Minn.) and Justin Bonestroo (Sr., Stillwater, Minn.) added 13 and 11 points.

The Oles outrebounded the Royals (13-9, 11-5) 43-34 and shot 32 free throws to Bethel's eight. Joe Madsen had 16 points to lead Bethel.

St. Olaf is now in a sixth place tie with Hamline and Macalester at 7-9 in the MIAC. Augsburg (7-10 MIAC), who is now a half game back of the trio, visits Skoglund Athletic Center Wednesday. The game is free of admission and can be heard on 920 AM, KDHL.
