Bethel bounces Ole women

The St. Olaf Women?s Basketball team suffered a loss on the road to Bethel College Saturday, February 8, hurting the team?s chance for a MIAC playoff spot.

The Oles led 43-38 with 12 minutes left to go in the game when the Royals went on a 20-4 run. When the run was over, the Royals had an 11-point lead with 3:24 remaining.

Behtel scored 23 points from the free-throw line and were 20-for-23 in the second half alone.

Sara Erickson (Sr, Cambridge, Minn.) led St. Olaf with 13 points. Jill Johnson (Jr, Butterfield, Minn.) added 12 points from the inside and had 8 rebounds. Point guard Molly Simon (So, Hudson, Wis.) scored nine and had four assists and three steals in the contest. Kristy Larson (So, St. Ansgar, Iowa) had seven rebounds. As a team, the Oles out-rebounded the Royals 50-33 but shot just 31.5 percent from the field. Bethel shot 44.7 percent.

St. Olaf was 72.7 percent from the free-throw line (8-for-11), and the Royals shot 79.3 percent from the line.

The Oles next play Augsburg College in Minneapolis at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, February 12.
