The St. Olaf Women's Track and Field team competed this past weekend at the Saint Mary's Invitational. Although no team scores were kept, the Oles reunited and proved the depth of this year's squad. With many team members abroad, this meet was the first chance for the entire team to reunite for the season.

The field events competitors had a great meet, as many Oles placed in individual field events. Jennifer Levenhagen (Jr., Appleton, Wis.) returned and placed in shot put and triple jump. Teammate Marla Nelson (FY, Mendota Heights, Minn.) took second place in the pole vault. Caitlin Groh (FY, Waseca, Minn.) finished third in high jump and ninth in long jump.

On the track, many of the Oles competed in new events, exposing the depth of this squad. Rebecca Peterson (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) set the pace in the 55 hurdles where she finished fifth overall. Meanwhile, Kari Koos (FY, Leavenworth, Wash.) won both the 800 meter race and the 1500 meter race. Kezia Manlove (FY, Rapid City, SD) placed second in the 1000 meter race. Megan Daymont (Sr., Northfield, Minn.) was the champion in the 3000 meter race. Becca Trombley (FY, Eau Claire, Wisc), Koos, Diana Ostrowski (FY, Eureka, SD), and Daymont also teamed together to win the 4x400 meter race.

The Oles will bring the energy and excitement from this meet back to their home track, as they will host the Border Battle on Saturday, February 15th, beginning at noon. Watch for the Oles to continue to improve as they get ready for the conference meet.
