The St. Olaf Women's Basketball team stormed back from a 20 point halftime deficit to beat the Macalester Scots 68-63 on their home court on Saturday, February 15.

The Oles shot just 25 percent in the first half and trailed 39-19. St. Olaf improved their effort in the second half, shooting 40.5 percent and only allowing the Scots to score 24 points, while they put 49 points on the board. Macalester still had a sizable lead with under ten minutes remaining in the game, but the Oles were able to pull ahead in the closing minute of the contest and secure the win. The Oles were down by one point when a rebound and put back by Kristy Larson (So, St. Ansgar, Minn.) and four made free throws by Kelly Sweeney (Jr, Oakdale, Minn.) put the Oles ahead by five. St. Olaf's ability to get to the line in the second half and improved defense was the key. The Oles were 17-of-23 from the free throw line (73.9%) in the second half. Jill Johnson (Jr, Butterfield, Minn.) went six-of-nine from the field and five-of-five from the free throw line to score 17 points for the Oles, and Liz Mundahl (Sr, Eagan, Minn.) added 14 points. With 11 rebounds in the contest, Natalie Rigelman (FY, Lake City Minn.) helped the Oles out-rebound the Scots 58-36. Johnson and Chrisine Schwichtenberg (FY, Hopkins, Minn.) each had nine rebounds. The Oles next travel to St. Paul to play the University of St. Thomas on Wednesday, February 19, at 7:30 pm in their last regular season road game. On Saturday, February 22, St. Olaf plays Hamline at home in the final game of the regular season. Saturday's 3:00pm game is also Senior's day, as three Ole starters, Mayme Cupkie, Sara Erickson, and Liz Mundahl will graduate this spring
