The St. Olaf Women?s Track and Field team competed well at the University of Minnesota?s Parent?s Day Open Saturday.

The Oles took their best, competing against many of the University of Minnesota athletes, and brought home season personal bests in many events.

Two Oles, Megan Daymont (Sr., Northfield, Minn.) and Kari Koos, FY, Leavenworth, Wash.) met the standards for the NCAA Indoor National meet. Daymont ran the second-best time in the country in the mile and Koos qualified in the 800.

Many other St. Olaf athletes ran their best races of the season. Lindsay Boetcher (FY, Eau Claire, Wisc.) finished in 3rd place in the 5,000 meter race. Teammate Meredith Fahrner (So., Urbana, Ill.) took 8th place in the 3,000 meter race. Becky Peterson (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) led the sprints where she finished in 8th place in the 60 meter low hurdles.

The Distance Medley Relay of Larisa Nordstrom (FY, Des Moines, Iowa), Jenna Barke (FY, Roseville, Minn.), Diana Ostrowski (FY, Eureka, SD), and Kezia Manlove (FY, Rapid City, SD) finished in a strong second place.

The 4x400 team of Liz Ghandour (FY, Madelia, Minn.), Daymont, Peterson, and Becca Trombley (FY, Eau Claire, Wisc.) also finished second, while setting a season best.

The field events also had a great day, as many Oles set their season bests in their respected fields, even if the places do not reflect it.

Jennifer Levenhagen (Jr., Appleton, Wisc.) finished 9th in the shot put with teammate Sonja Moe (So., Northfield, Minn.) also placing 7th in the triple jump.

The Oles return home this weekend, hosting the Ole Open on Friday, February 28th. The field events begin at 4:30 with running events beginning at 5:00 pm. Watch for the Oles to take the excitement from this weekend and use it to their advantage as many of the team members will compete for qualifying marks to get into the conference meet, which well be held at St. Olaf March 6-8.
