Oles rally in game one, sweep Dickinson State

The St. Olaf baseball team rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win game one 8-7, and completed a sweep on Dickinson State with an 8-0 victory in game two at the Metrodome Thursday evening.

Brad Baglien (Jr., Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View) drove in the winning run in game one with a one-out single.

Charlie Rudd (Jr., Cannon Falls, Minn.) earned the win working the final out in the top half of the seventh.

The Oles (3-1, 0-0) had a 5-1 lead into the fifth inning, before the Hawks scored six straight.

In game two, first-year Eric Tobias (Prescott, Wis.) worked five scoreless innings, striking out eight, to secure his first collegiate win.

Jon Cornell (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) led the Ole offense, going 5-for-8 in the wins with three RBIs and two doubles. Baglien was 4-for-8 and Dan Johnson (Jr., Cambridge, Minn.) 3-for-6 on the night.

St. Olaf has two weeks off, before traveling south. The Oles will resume on March 21 in Linsborg, Kan. when they face Bethany Lutheran College in the first their 11-game trip. St. Olaf will play three other games in Kansas, five in Texas and two in Iowa in the 10-day trip.
